The United States conducted 41 strikes consisting of 76 engagements against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria since February 14, Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve officials reported on Friday.

These strikes were conducted as part of Operation Inherent Resolve.

ISIS has been nearly defeated as it was reported in late December that fewer than 1,000 Islamic State fighters remain in Iraq and Syria, the coalition said.

While ISIS has been nearly wiped out, they continue to carry out attacks. Last weekend, they claimed responsibility for a deadly attack that killed 27 members of the Shiite militia group Popular Mobilization Units near the Iraqi city of Hawija

ISIS continues to launch terrorist attacks across the globe. On Saturday, ISIS carried out a terrorist attack in Yemen, killing 14 people, Reuters reported.
