Data on personal information, including bank account numbers, on over 21,000 people affiliated with the Marine Corps Forces Reserves have been compromised, the Marine Corps Times reported on Wednesday.

An unencrypted email was sent to the wrong distribution list by the Defense Travel System (DTS) on Monday morning.

“It was very quickly noticed and email recall procedures were implemented to reduce the number of accounts that received it,” Marine Corps spokesman Maj. Andrew Aranda said.

The information that was compromised includes social security numbers, bank account numbers, credit card information, mailing addresses, residential addresses, etc.
